Sweet Mountain Barnyard Wedding

After nearly a decade together of loving and living, Natalie and Daniel sought to make it official in the presence of their families and friends on scenic and quaint Khimaira Farm in Luray, Virginia. Their heartfelt Quaker-inspired ceremony outdoors was officiated by Natalie’s uncle in the midst of 360-degree views of the Blue Ridge Mountains as witnessed from Wolfcrest Photography’s amazing captures. Continuing the rustic and charming aesthetic from the outside, Natalie and Daniel decorated Khimaira’s indoor space with autumnal shades of red, purple, orange, and pink. Vivian’s Flower Shop focused on bringing in ample amounts of greenery to counterbalance the wood interior and even included fun additions of seasonal crops like squash and pumpkins into the centerpieces. N + D’s wedding has no shortage of mountainside charm.

Why a Mountain Wedding?

We love the mountains, especially in the fall with all of the changing colors.

What are three things you’re glad you did?

I’m glad we used Khimaira’s decorating service! They gave us surveys and questionnaires to help us find the best decorations for our style. It took a lot of stress off of us. I’m glad we had a bus service for our guests; it helped make everyone more relaxed about getting to and from the venue. I’m glad we had my uncle officiate! It made our ceremony even more personal and special.

How did you find your vendors?

I mostly found the vendors by talking to Linda (the owner of Khimaira). She was helpful every step of the way.

What’s your biggest piece of advice for other couples planning a mountain wedding?

Definitely make sure you have a plan with your photographer about the timeline! Sara did an awesome job talking with us about the wedding timeline and the best time to take photos. It really helped me feel grounded in wedding planning and feel more confident about the day!
