Spring Flowers in the Mountains

In Search of Local Flowers in the Southern Mountains

For me, spring has officially come in the southern Mountains when the dogwood and cherry trees bloom on our street. In celebration of spring and flowers, I'm bound for Asheville to catch up with Janet from the Enchanted Florist. Depending on the weather (it may rain), we will either go to a pick-your-own flower farm, or check out what's blooming at the NC Arboretum. An update and lots of pretty pictures (I hope) from my new camera are forthcoming.

Gratuitous Green Tip (In honor of Earth Day)

Use wedding flowers that are in season. Dogwood blooms around mid spring in the mountain South. for more on blooming times in western North Carolina, check out the NC Arboretum's blooming schedule or the Highlands Biological Station.
