Splendid Vintage-Inspired Mountain Elopement in Asheville, NC

Charlie and Buck traveled to Asheville for their very first trip as a couple, 8 years ago. They both love nature and were taken with the beauty of the Blueridge Mountains. So they decided to return to this very special place for their elopement.

Charlie’s gorgeous, vintage-inspired wedding gown was beaded with cap sleeves and braided hair for a boho touch. The look was at once perfectly simple with a feminine touch. Rachael McIntosh was on hand to capture the special moments of the day.

Why did you choose the Mountains for your wedding?

Our first trip as a couple, 8 years ago, was to Asheville. We fell in love with the mountains and it has always been a special place to us! We’ve always shared a love for nature.

Wedding day theme:

My dress was beaded with cap sleeves- very vintage inspired. My hair was braided for a boho touch. I just really wanted simplicity with a feminine touch.

Where did you find your inspiration?

I spent a lot of time on Pinterest searching Mountain Elopement images and vintage inspired details.

How did you choose to personalize your wedding?

We chose a place special to us both, which made the experience so much more! Since our families were not present, we brought a few heirlooms along. I wrapped my bouquet with my great grandmothers blue floral hankercheif.

What was your favorite part of the reception?

Our reception was us going out on the town that evening! Eating amazing local food downtown.

What are three things you’re super glad you did?

I would never take back our choice to elope! Hiring a wedding planner also took so much stress away! She parternered with a photographer, Rachael, who was amazing. I will cherrish those photos forever. It was so important to have quality photos to share with my family.

What was the biggest challenge in planning your mountain wedding and how did you overcome it?

Our biggest challenge was being 7 hours away! But luckily, our wedding planner, Wendy, took care of all the details! She was so kind and listened to everything I wanted, providing me many options.

How did you find and choose your vendors?

I spent days online searching and emailing different vendors. I think it came down to who I was having the best connections with! I built friendships with the people I worked with. I think that’s so important.

What is your best piece of advice to other mountain brides who are planning their weddings?

My advice would be to really enjoy your day. The day I married was the second best day of my life, after the birth of my son. Just remember why you chose the mountains and take them in that day.
