Their Love Story From Jenna: Ryan and I met in September of our freshman year of high school after a crosstown football game. It was dark and he was wearing a hood, so needless to say, the first impression didn’t win me over. He texted me soon after.. to which I didn’t really respond.. and that is the extent of our high school interactions. However, I did think about him occasionally and randomly throughout high school… He never slipped my mind and certainly was not forgotten. I met Ryan for the second time the day we graduated from high school. I knew who he was… he knew who I was… I thought he was the bee’s knees… And from that night on he had me hook, line and sinker.

Although he was wonderful and everything that I’d ever dreamed of, there was one catch: he was leaving for Basic Training in Texas exactly one month after graduation day. He wanted to wait to date as he knew that I would start college in the fall and he was going to be gone for 4 months, but promised to take me out to dinner after he got back. I was willing to wait as long as I had to for him, but 4 months was hardly any time to wait for the man of my dreams, so I agreed.

Well that plan didn’t last long and we were dating in a matter of days after that conversation, two weeks before he had to leave. Two weeks were more than enough to fuel my excitement for his return and I missed him before he even left. But he did leave, and we exchanged letter after letter while he was away. We prayed hard for each other and God truly used that time to grow our love for one another. He got back and I could hardly believe it was real. We were finally able to say “I love you” to each other!

Day after day I was more and more reassured that he was indeed The One. We had been dating for a total of a year and half when he proposed on Christmas Day after we hiked to one of our very favorite places.

We will be getting married on June 18th in the little white church that he grew up in and I couldn’t be more excited to begin a life of marriage with my very best friend. He truly is the man of my dreams and everything I’ve ever wanted and more. He has a heart that amazes me every day and a smile that can still make me weak at the knees. I am so blessed as I have experienced the amazing gift that God has so graciously given me and will never forget to thank Him for my Ryan.
