This snowy mountain wedding, captured by Kim Payant, was inspired by the couple’s love of hiking and the outdoors. Though the bride forgot her “something blue” wedding shoes, she remembered her hiking boots and the two frolicked on a snowy slope in the Canadian Rockies for their wedding portraits. I especially love the backcountry knife they used as a wedding cake cutter. Very unique, and very them!
Why a Mountain Wedding?
We had a mountain wedding because we knew it would be beautiful and unforgettable.
Where did you find your inspiration?
Our inspiration is from our love of the mountains. We love to hike and camp.
What were some personal details you incorporated?
The personal details would be in our pictures. We brought along hiking poles and boots for some fun pictures.
Your favorite moment of the day.
Our favourite day moment of the day would be getting the photos done. We had so much fun travelling around Banff. Just knowing how beautiful the pictures would be made it exciting.
Three things you’re glad you did.
- We are glad we brought along our hiking boots and poles for our pictures.
- We were glad to hike through deep snow to get some amazing pictures.
- We were glad we had our wedding in Banff.
Anything you wish you hadn’t done?
I wish I didn’t forget my blue wedding shoes at home. I was fortunate that my maid of honor had a extra pair of high heels.
What was the best piece of wedding advice you got?
Always make sure you check off everything on your list if your doing a destination wedding. You dont want to forget anything :)
What piece of wedding planing advice do you wish you followed?
To not worry too much. The most important things are the bride and groom.
Anything you wish you hadn’t worried about?
I did get upset about the missing shoes but in the end I got over it and everything else turned out perfectly.
Anything You wish you had known about sooner rather than later?
Our wedding was everything we wanted. There wasn’t too much that went wrong.
How did you choose your vendors?
We went online for most of our vendors. We looked at the best place to get married in Banff. We chose the Rimrock. They did most of the preparation which took some stress off us.
What is your very best advice to other mountain brides?
Enjoy yourself. The best part of getting married in the mountains is of course the scenery. Its really what makes the wedding so special.
