I am so honored to welcome you to a very special day on Mountainside Bride! Today you’ll see not one, not two, but three full posts featuring a styled shoot, bridal portraits and an engagement shoot, all from The Experience Workshop.
I had the privilege to team up with bloggers Lauren from Every Last Detail, Megan from Glamour and Grace, and Stephanie from Fab You Bliss and photographers Justin DeMutiis, Kristin La Voie, and Kristen Weaver to host a photography and publishing workshop at WPPI this year.
Each blogger styled a table based on the theme: Gold Details. The Photographer panelists coached attendees in shooting techniques and styles. The result: three gorgeous blog posts from some very talented photographers!
Hardware Store Inspiration
In true mountain fashion, the inspiration behind this table was “making due with what’s available in the mountains.” Where I live there is no Michaels Craft store, no cool thrift stores, and the nearest Walmart is a full two hours away. Know what’s in the mountains? A hardware store.
So we used materials readily available in a hardware store:
- We rescued common glass jars from the recycle bin and spray painted them with gold and copper paints. Others were painted with pink glass paint.
- Kraft and Jute fashioned common copper wire into pretty menu wraps and stands for place cards and table numbers.
- A plain unfinished board served as a long, family-style place mat for place settings.
- We stamped paint chips into heart shapes and embossed with stamps and a heat embosser (OK the embosser came from Amazon :-D) Then we fashions coper wire into hooks and put the hearts in with the flowers.
- Kids craft materials–feathers and gold glitter–were elevated as centerpiece details by dipping the feathers into gold paint and coating in glitter.

Vendors for this Modern Rustic Styled Shoot:
I cannot say enough great things about the Las Vegas Wedding Vendors who supported this endeavor. The professionalism and gorgeousness of the Vintner Grill was exceptional. Juliette from Green Orchid Events was a rock start at connecting us to top Las Vegas wedding vendors when our wedding and bridesmaid dresses fell through from elsewhere. We are so grateful for the flexibility of Mina Olive and Bella Bridesmaid. And Catherine from Layers of Lovely easy to work with, and talented, she also has a to die for collection of vases and styling elements.
