Jana and Vincent got married at 8,000 feet, atop Vista Ridge. Guests and the bridal party took the ski lift to the top of the mountain, which was peppered in glowing, golden Aspen trees and Evergreens. The weather held out and we didn’t have much more than just a sprinkling of rain during the ceremony. After the ceremony, Vincent gave Jana a special necklace: a charm with a “B” for his last name.

Why did you choose the Mountains for your wedding?
Growing up in Colorado, the mountains were a place for camping, hiking and skiing, so I’ve always enjoyed being in the mountains. Vincent also loves to snowboard and hike and camp also, so when we were talking about a place to get married, we knew we wanted to do an outdoor wedding. We decided on the mountains because it was a destination for many of our family and friends, and the mountains are our favorite place to be, and CO mountains are too beautiful not to have a wedding there!

What was your theme for your wedding?
We didn’t really have a theme.
Where did you find your inspiration?
Wedding magazines, Pinterest
Photographer-totally worth it!!
Centerpieces. I borrowed the wood slabs from a friend, and my mom had extra vases from her gift shop.
How did you choose to personalize your wedding?
We had actually gotten married in a Catholic church the day before, so we had a close friend officiate our mountain ceremony.
We had Linda, Vincent’s mom make our cakes. It was really special. She made Vincent’s favorite, German Chocolate cake with a Saint’s fleur de lis, (his favorite team). She also created all of our Save the Dates, Invitations, and programs.
What was your favorite part of the reception?
- Dancing with friends and family.
- Getting to see family and friends who came from out of state.
- Drinking champagne and celebrating!
What are three things you’re super glad you did?
- Provided the guests with ponchos (we had a gift bag as guests rode the chair lift with ponchos, water, Chapstick and a program)
- Hired a photographer
- Had hair done for myself and bridesmaids day of (less stress)
How did you find and choose your vendors?
Mostly from referrals. My friend just got married the year prior, so she had referred me to my florist and recommended my photographer. A friend from high school worked as a DJ, so we used them-also because they were reasonable.
What is your best piece of advice to other mountain brides who are planning their weddings?
If possible, go and check out the venue before hand, and be sure to ask lots of questions. It helped me a lot to see the space to get an idea of decor, space, etc. Make sure that there is a back up plan in case of weather, and be sure to prepare guests as best you can.
