Romantic and Elegant Lake Tahoe Micro Wedding

Allie and Walter’s went through enormous ups and downs to make it to their Lake Tahoe wedding. After several canceled wedding venues and vendors due to the pandemic, this pair had to re-plan their entire wedding three times- the most recent with only a few weeks till their date. They were determined, come hell or high water, to become husband and wife, no matter what, even if it meant planning out an entirely new wedding with less than 30 days to go. Well their hard work and determination paid off, and what resulted was the most gorgeous “micro-wedding” at a Tahoe private estate that I have ever seen!

How did you meet?

Allie and Walter met through a mutual friend several years ago when they were invited out to dinner. Allie didn’t realize this friend was trying to introduce her to Walter that night, and had bailed on the dinner. The friend face-timed Allie, and she was forced to meet Walter. The pair agreed it was an awkward interaction but were interested in each other. They met up a week later at a bar in San Francisco where she ended up giving him her number by the end of the night. He called the next day and they haven’t gone a single day without talking since.

What is your proposal story?

Walter popped the question to Allie at Inspiration Point in Tahoe last April. The pair traveled up to the mountains for a little relaxing get-a-way. The first morning in town, Walter suggested they go for an early hike to the scenic Inspiration Point. Allie agreed and started getting ready, however she noticed it was odd that Walter seemed very anxious that they weren’t getting out the door early enough. Little did she know, Walter had hired a photographer to meet them at the vista point to capture his proposal. Luckily they were able to get out the door in time, coffee in hand. When they arrived to the point, Allie noticed a random “tourist” hovering near them with a camera, but didn’t think anything of it. It wasn’t until Walter got down on one knee that she realized what was happening. Even though she was in shock, she of course said Yes!

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding.

Allie and Walter’s went through enormous ups and downs to make it to their Lake Tahoe wedding. They settled on a gorgeous private home in Tahoe, partly because this was the town they got engaged in-so it seemed fitting, but also because that county was a bit more relaxed with its Covid restrictions. The pair choose to let the beautiful scenery do most of the talking in their design. Simple white blooms blended in beautifully with the breathtaking views of the mountains, lake, and forest.

Tell us about your attire choices.

Allie loved her Allure dress from Trudy’s. It was the perfect combination of modern romance and fit like a glove. The unique textures were a gorgeous way to add more visual interest to a classic sweetheart a-line dress.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

The most important thing was that they were able to get married. Their original plans called for a grand wedding at a popular winery in Napa, however COVID restrictions meant they had to change plans, and quickly. Since most of their vendors had backed out, they were grateful to find some new team players who were able to help make their wedding day dreams come true after all.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

While Allie and Walter truly loved the entire day spent with their loved ones, one of their favorite parts of the day was jamming out and the end of the night, singing and dancing in a circle with all their nearest and dearest (half who had already changed into comfortable clothing to rock the night away in- perks of staying at the private residence with plenty of bedrooms!)

What’s your biggest piece of advice for other couples planning a mountain wedding?

Allie and Walter loved having their wedding in the same mountain town that they became engaged. Their love story came full circle in this way. The gorgeous natural backdrop of the mountains, lake, and the forest was a perfect touch to their laid-back, organic wedding. They would love to tell other couples planning a mountain wedding that having this natural beauty is such a romantic way to get married. Worry less about large design elements and more about your loved one’s experience.
