After dating for 8 years, Teri and Ryan decided to tie the knot at one of their favorite vacations spots, driving from Iowa with their closest friends and family. The day of the wedding, huge rain clouds came in and threatened to rain out the ceremony but they took a chances, waiting for the storm to pass. Not only did the storm pass, but when they decided to “go for it” they had the perfect amount of time to say their vows before rain + thunder fell from the sky once again. It was actually perfect because, the rain chased away other visitors and tourists and they ended up having whole Sprague lake for themselves.

Wedding day weather: We had, rain, hail, thunder and lighting!! It was definitely memorable. It all worked out.
Number of guests: 10
Your budget: $1,000.00 – $3,000.00
Biggest splurge: The photographer, but it was worth it. I tear up with the moments Candice captured!
Why did you choose the Mountains for your wedding?
We wanted a simple wedding, more intimate. We both love the outdoors and we have been coming out to Colorado the last four years for vacation, so we thought why not here, we love it! We knew the background would be breathtaking too. We could not have asked for a better way to say I do to the rest of our lives together!
Wedding day theme:
No theme, just went with the flow.
Where did you find your inspiration?
Pinterest was the main place I looked. I also looked at Candice’s images that she has taken in.
How did you find and choose your vendors?
I was worried not meeting people before our wedding, but I found that when I called the different vendors. I went with the people that I just felt that they knew exactly what I wanted. I loved it, I had no doubts after I talking with all my vendors. It was the best way to get married and I honestly recommend anyone to do it the way we did it!
What is your best piece of advice to other mountain brides who are planning their weddings?
I don’t believe you should let the cost scare you, it is such a special day and you just want things to be perfect, but you can still have a perfect wedding on a budget. Especially photography you will have the images all over your home and you don’t want regrets.
