Kirsten + Adam
Devil’s Thumb

August 8, 2015

Wedding day weather: 87 degrees; partly cloudy
Number of guests: 127
Your budget: $10,000
Biggest splurge: wedding dress
Biggest savings: limited decorations at ceremony site; letting mountains speak for themselves.

Why did you choose the Mountains for your wedding?

Adam and I both reside in Colorado and spend most of our time in the mountains. it is a large part of who we are. We love the mountains and all that they bring out in us not only as a couple but also as individuals. We feel SO blessed to be able to call them “our home.”

Wedding day theme:

5-star rustic

Where did you find your inspiration?

Our own style. All of those things that “felt right” together.

How did you choose to personalize your wedding?

Our dance that we spend months and months practicing with original choreography and our own dance instructor.

What was your favorite part of the reception?

Hands down listening to the speeches and dancing with all of those people that we hold so very close to our hearts.

What are three things you’re super glad you did?

  1. Practice a dance and keep it secret.
  2. Large wedding party.
  3. spend more than 1 day at the wedding site spending time with ALL of our family and friends. it was a getaway and an experience for all involved.

What was the biggest challenge in planning your mountain wedding and how did you overcome it?

The distance from the wedding site. Adam and I live in Durango Colorado and our wedding site was 8 hours away. Having a wedding planner overcame this.

How did you find and choose your vendors?

Via referral and reviewing past weddings all had done.

What is your best piece of advice to other mountain brides who are planning their weddings?

Make it yours. Remember that the mountains are an amazing place that many to do have the chance to experience. It is an experience for everyone with you, at the center.
