Picturesque Prairie Wedding in Washington

Onalaska, Washington is a small, sleepy, west coast town with vast acreage made for taking in the beauty of the mountains in the area. Today’s couple–Karmen and Devin along with their sweet baby girl, Gracie–chose the Mason Jar Gathering Place for practical reasons (it was a great halfway point between both sets of parents) and for their innate love of rustic styling and that idyllic, countryside ambience. Their engagement took place in a sprawling, lavender field (romantic!) and they wanted to incorporate that color into their wedding. They paired the soft pastel shade with a harmonious sage green and the whole day was so pleasing to the eye. Via Janet Lin Photography‘s lens, K + D’s farmstead wedding day was effortlessly strung together with a picture-perfect exposed wood barnyard, pastoral barrels, and lovely summery florals from LUSH Floral Design PDX. While we thought it couldn’t get any better, the couple drove away from their reception in Karmen’s grandparents’ vintage car; a perfect ending to their day.

Why a Mountain Wedding?

A mountain wedding tied in all we dreamed our big day to be. A beautiful flat piece of land at the base of one of Washington’s most beautiful mountains. It was the perfect setting to cry, to hug, to reflect and to really take our next steps on our hike and or journey we get to call love and marriage.

What are three things you’re glad you did?

Keeping our day intimate. Only inviting those dearest to our hearts.

My Dad reading his poem to me brought a personal and very powerful touch to our day about a fathers love, ongoing and unconditional for his daughter.

Our first dance wasn’t just with my new husband but halfway through it was shared with our daughter, Gracie as well. Symbolizing our family and the love we share. Everything we do, we do for her.

What’s your biggest piece of advice for other couples planning a mountain wedding?

I would say always bring yourself back to you and your partner. Never lose touch of what you truly want to see. If you feel forced to do something, don’t. If it is to make others happy, don’t. This is one of the very few days in your life where truly, it is all about you. Soak it up with your special someone.
