Today’s inspiration features a touch of mid-century modern in the Mile High City. StudioWed, Denver wedding vendors teamed up with Wedding Paper Divas to create this positively dreamy and fresh wedding inspiration with lush green details, charming florals and sophisticated metallic touches.

We live in a world where wedding inspiration is boundless. Pinterest. Instagram. Wedding blogs. Wedding websites. Magazines. Friends and family…the list goes on.
With so much to love, how are we supposed to choose just one design for our Big Day?
The answer, we’ve found, is all in the details.
Sometimes a wedding’s design can start with a color palette, a beautiful pin of a centerpiece, or a personal belonging. Or sometimes it can come from articulating the right combination of words, like “elegant and lacy” or “modern and sophisticated.”
Finding that one thing is a landmark moment in the wedding planning process, and it’s the springboard for how you tie all the pieces together. For many wedding planners, this challenge is the most critical and the most exciting part of the process.
We recently put this concept to life in a styled shoot, and we wanted to share our creative process with those brides out there that are struggling with the very modern condition of “over inspiration,” in the hopes that it might help them get started on an easier path. When Wedding Paper Divas approached us to do a styled shoot and industry party, we jumped at the chance.
Since Wedding Paper Divas specializes in invitation design, it felt natural to draw inspiration for the event from the invitations themselves. So we searched and searched, and decided on their foil-stamped Everlasting Gem invitation. It has these amazing clean lines that create a delicate crossing pattern in a mix of color and metallic. The feel of it spoke to us and we felt good about the many directions we could go with it.
Next we created a design board using the invitation as our centerpiece, we went to a local vendor’s website that specializes in unique vintage rental pieces, and discovered a little treasure there. It was a mid-century modern gold shelving piece that, as it turned out, had the exact same shape and angled lines as the invitation we loved.
Instead of forcing other concepts to creep into our design board, we stuck with the mid-mod style and had fun with it. We found other mid-century modern pieces, terrarium-style foliage, bold colors, and metallic accents that worked with our concept, and encouraged our vendors run with it.
As common with all of our past successful events, we didn’t over think anything. This gave us the freedom to shut out all the other distractions, so we could focus on just the things that felt organic and natural to our design.
The style of the invitation piece we used comes out everywhere in this shoot. The cake, floral backdrop, table setting, rug, and even the wedding dress were all inspired from this one invitation.
If you are having trouble deciding on a direction to go with your wedding design, try selecting a few pieces you love and see where it takes you!
Use that one thing you love as the glue that ties your whole wedding together. It could be a wedding invitation, a dress, a famous painting you love, or a crazy piece of furniture. Just go with it and let the rest fall into place.
From Intricate Icings:
My inspiration for this fondant cake was the gorgeous white, green and metallic stationery provided by Wedding Paper Divas. I love modern geometric patterns and thought this linear design would work wonderfully on a cake. I chose to add a single sugar fern as a nod to the lush greenery used throughout the shoot. I wanted to provide an interactive experience for the guests, so I created an edible wall of petite fours allowing the dessert to truly become the decor, while letting the guests serve themselves from a slightly more unique setting.
From Plum Sage Flowers:
Our botanical inspiration was to focus on unusual greenery and utilize plant and foliage types that are not typically seen in fresh designs. These included coleus plants, peperonia, zebra plant, maranta and hoya. We wanted the greenery to act as a focal bloom and really loved playing with sewing the sword fern and succulent blooms onto the fabric backdrop.
In addition to the above, we enjoyed utilizing large quantities of unique flowers such as the frill tulips. We also were able to use fresh cut Fritillaria for the first time, which was stunning.
