Indian American Wedding in the Utah desert

After meeting at a wedding, you sure would have big expectations for your own big day. Gabrielle of ‘Cause We Can event planning pulled together the long-awaited wedding for Simi and Ryan. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Simi and Ryan postponed their 2020 wedding plans and chose to wait until it was safer to celebrate.

With the world opening up again the friends and family of the couple were able to join them on their special day. Traveling from all over the world to celebrate the union in Utah. Zion was the perfect location, full of scenic canyons and picturesque high plateaus. Their big day was full of live music, a henna artist and food trucks. The perfect blend of their American and Indian culture.

How did you meet?

We met at a wedding! Simi lived in New York City at the time and Ryan lived in Phoenix. Ryan was best friends with the groom and Simi was best friends with the bride. We were standing next to the dance floor when the groom introduced us. We ended up talking the whole night. Ryan friended Simi on Facebook and after a lot of Face timing and texting, a long distance relationship was started.

We visited each other every 2 weeks, each taking turns to visit the other or planning trips/vacations. We fell in love while exploring Sapa, Vietnam and the discussion to move in together was started. Then we decided to start a new life together in Santa Monica, California. Before settling there, we lived in a1984 VW Westfalia for a summer to celebrate Simi’s move across country. We traveled to 15 US National Parks and even made it to Banff, Canada. We eventually found our way to Santa Monica and have called it home for almost 4 years.
