Brides Description of the Day: Our wedding day was truly a fairytale. From the exceptional venue to the horse drawn carriage to marrying my prince charming, it was more than I could have ever imagined. We went with neutral colors; whites, pale pinks, and a combination of silver and gold. The ceremony took place on the front lawn of the Biltmore Estate with a beautiful string trio. My dad and I arrived on a horse drawn carriage which was such a special moment for just the two of us. The guests arrived on trolleys. The bridesmaids wore strapless, long taupe dresses while the groomsmen wore tuxedos. After the ceremony our guests were able to tour the home while making their way to our cocktail hour on the terrace. The string trio continued to play at the cocktail hour while the wedding party and family finished pictures. We had a tented reception in the Italian Gardens. The tent was everything to me – fully lined with three stunning chandeliers and lighting throughout. We had a sit down dinner with exceptional service – the food was great and the wine was flowing! Then we danced the night away to an awesome band. One unique thing we had at our reception was a very talented woman who actually painted our reception. It turned out amazing and it’s so wonderful to be able to look back at that and remember such an amazing night!

Why did you choose the Mountains for your wedding?
I’m originally from NC and moved to Florida when I was 8, but always knew I wanted to come back to NC for my wedding.
Where did you find your inspiration?
Magazines, my own taste, Pinterest
How did you choose to personalize your wedding?
Our table numbers were cities/state names with pictures of Brett and I from our travels to those places.
What was your favorite part of the reception?
Our band was amazing! Great energy, never took a break, played something for everyone. Dance floor was packed the entire night!
What are three things you’re super glad you did?
- We had an artist paint our reception which turned out amazing & it’s something we’ll have forever.
- Our photographer was the best money spent. She also incorporated a video (montage as she calls it) which I love watching.
- We had a string quartet for the ceremony & cocktail hour which was amazing!
What was the biggest challenge in planning your mountain wedding and how did you overcome it?
Since we live in Florida and the wedding was in NC, planning from a distance could be challenging at times; however, having said that, we had the best wedding planner so that helped tremendously!
How did you find and choose your vendors?
Through our wedding planner and our venue recommendations.
What is your best piece of advice to other mountain brides who are planning their weddings?
Be organized and be decisive. And enjoy every minute of it because it fly’s by!
