Glacier National Park Elopement

Jira and Joe had fallen in love with Glacier National Park after taking a trip there in 2018, so after he popped the question and they decided a big wedding wasn’t for them, it seemed like the ideal spot for them to return and tie the knot! They exchanged vows next to Belton Bridge and the brilliantly turquoise blue Flathead River, then celebrated at Two Medicine lake, dancing and laughing, and taking in becoming Mr. & Mrs.! Honeybee Weddings was there to capture every stunning and simply beautiful moment of their big day!

How did you meet?

We met in college, through a mutual friend, who invited us to the movies together. At the last moment, she dropped out, but we still decided to go!

What is your proposal story?

We were living in different cities at the time, 3 hours away from each other. Joe drove down on a Friday to spend the weekend. He had picked up the engagement ring that morning and had a romantic evening planned. Apparently, he couldn’t wait and as soon as he arrived, he proposed!

What were your favorite parts of the day?

We eloped so it was just the 2 of us (and our photographers and the officiant!). We were getting married at the Belton Bridge and when we visited the day before, the river was completely empty, we didn’t see anybody else the whole 2 hours we were there. However, in the middle of our ceremony, a group of about 30 rafters/kayakers came through whooping and hollering and congratulating us! It was just such a funny coincidence that we had decided on a small wedding and ended up actually having about 30 strangers there!

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

Remember that it’s about you!

Why a Mountain Wedding?

Joe and I had visited Glacier NP in 2018 and fell in love with it. We knew from the beginning that we didn’t want a big wedding, we just wanted to share the day with each other. Glacier NP is very special to us and has amazing scenery. It seemed like the perfect place to start a marriage.

What’s your biggest piece of advice for other couples planning a mountain wedding?

Get a great wedding planner if you’re not in the city yourself. We came from Texas – a ways from Montana – and planning is tough that far away! Honeybee Weddings was amazing and so helpful, they did everything and I didn’t have to raise a finger. They took into consideration everything I asked for.
