Fabulous Thrift Store Finds for your Kitschy Wedding

I spy with my little eye!

The cutest kitschy thrift store finds. Thrift stores are the go-to place for DIY brides and those of us looking for something truly unique. To be perfectly honest, I can;t believe I missed this super duper cute wedding over on Once Wed last fall. I must have been more distracted with my cross country move and missing my husband than I gave myself credit for.

Tea Crock and Diner Ware

Kitschy mid-century modern tea crock

This tea crock from the seventies gets a dose of the super sweet with those heart shaped tea tags! Replace regular black tea tags with heart shapes. Simply punch out the heart shapes using a heart-shaped punch. Secure with a mini staple or a dab of glue. Miscellaneous diner ware (yes like Mel's Diner) round out the motif.

Mix and Match China

Kitschy vintage China

Mix and match vintage china from the seventies is often more common and less expensive than the more formal and dainty stuff. Still, start scouring thrift stores early in your planning process for the best prices and selection.

A Nifty Pineapple Whachamacallit

Don't pass up those funky odd-ball finds. They can really help you put your personal stamp on your reception. Some like this plastic pineapple can do triple duty as a centerpiece, table number, and perhaps a conversation piece.

Old Style Ceramic Bowls and Tin Buckets

DIY Fabric napkins

While not exactly seventies kitsch, these vintage items fit right in and help you avoid matchy-matchy overkill. And burlap is now equally at home among gilded plates and chandeliers and a backyard picnic gear, so what ever theme your wedding reception is, you can probably find a place for a little burlap.
