This mountain wedding at Snowbird Ski Area is full of pretty florals and gorgeous decor. Designer and planner Harvest Moon Events incorporated hops into the decor, very fitting given that their wedding was the first day of Oktoberfest there at Snowbird! The bride and groom took the Peruvian lift up to 11,000′ in elevation to the top of Mineral Basin for portraits on top of a mountain in fields of wildflowers. Nestled next to the beautiful Cliff Lodge,Andrea and Rob tied the knot. The dinner and reception featured floral chandeliers, a sweet naked cake and florals to die for. This stunning wedding was lovingly captured by Amber Shaw Photography.

Why did you choose the Mountains for your wedding?
We wanted our wedding to really feel like a getaway from the city life. A lot of our family and friends live in the city or out of town so the mountains seemed like the perfect venue. Plus, we HAD to take advantage of the beautiful natural backdrop that Utah provides for us :)
Wedding day theme:
Rustic with a touch of elegance.
Where did you find your inspiration?
really helped put together my vision in the floral and decor that she recommended. I really leaned on her a lot for help and her and her team did an amazing job bringing my vision to life!
How did you choose to personalize your wedding?
We are both really big into wines so we chose to make the name card holders using old corks of wine that we had. We really wanted the whole day to be a celebration for everyone of our close family and friends. So we focused on the guests over the small details.
What was your favorite part of the reception?
After the ceremony we had a cocktail hour before dinner was served. Rob and I both grabbed a beer and found a place that overlooked the cocktail hour. We chatted about our nerves, our vows, each other, and watched all of our loved ones laughing and taking photos (without them knowing we could see them). It was such a magical moment with my new husband.
What are three things you’re super glad you did?
- Hired a day-of coordinator. She took care of the timeline and made sure everyone was on time and were where they needed to be.
- Hired a great photographer. So happy we found someone with incredible talent to document our day and not miss a single event.
- Not overspend on my dress… that thing was so dirty and ripped by the end of the night!
What was the biggest challenge in planning your mountain wedding and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge for me was not knowing what the weather was going to do. In mid August, the canyon and mountains see spotty thunderstorms in the afternoon. We had a back up plan that (luckily) we didn’t need to use.
How did you find and choose your vendors?
We used Snowbird’s preferred vendor list for all of our vendors. And after the great work that they did, it’s obvious they were on that list for a reason!
What is your best piece of advice to other mountain brides who are planning their weddings?
Don’t stress about the details. The mountains provide a beauty and backdrop that flowers and decor can’t. Plus, at the end of the night, it’s the moments with your family and friends that you will remember the most.
