Heather from Revival Photography knows I’m crazy about elopements. They serve as a powerful reminder that a wedding isn’t just about the couple’s “very special day.” Weddings are also about the couple’s family, friends, and guests. They’re about love and relationships, and the dynamics between well over 100 people. An elopement, on the other hand, is truly about the couple. One is not better or more honest than the other. The choice to have a wedding or to elope is highly personal. But elopements also reminds us that we have choices. Choices about who to invite or not invite; choices about money and budgets; choices about how much your day will be about your couple-hood alone. At the end of the day–wedding or elopement– you are married and embarking on a long life together. So I love publishing both weddings and elopements. Gina and Peter’s elopement is full of ceremony and reception details (stuff like flowers and wedding cake) as well as powerful emotional details (the vow exchange, the first kiss, and the togetherness of it all). I especially love the pictures of the couple pouring over a map and plotting their next adventure together.
From the Bride:
“Pete knows that I don’t wear a lot of jewelry so he talked to me ahead of time about looking for a ring that I’d like and wear, so I knew a proposal was on the way. We were able to save a lot of money on the rings, but had to wait a long time before they were made and sent our way. During the wait, we started talking about what type of wedding we’d want and found that neither of us wanted to do all the work or spend all the money (money we didn’t have) to have a traditional wedding and reception. So, we looked into other options. I saw a few NC inns that offered elopement packages, but your photos for the Mast Farm Inn and all the reviews won me over. It was exactly our style. Plus, Danielle made everything so easy! The hardest decision was what to wear. That day was full of smiles, laughs, awesome people, great food, and beautiful scenery, which was exactly what we wanted :) . Now for the reception on June 22nd! Big back yard pig pickin’!” – Gina
