Agnes and Haakon chose the magnificent mountains in Norway for their love of nature. In fact, nature was their biggest inspiration and they chose a soft and subtle sage, white and green color palette that allowed the beauty of the surrounding countryside and the charm of the traditional Norwegian timber lodges to shine through.

Biggest splurge: Venue and menu consisting of local traditional Norwegian food, such as reindeer, halibut, and locally grown vegetables.
Biggest savings: Entertainment, which was basically our talented friends singing in the church and performing as DJs at the party.
Why did you choose the Mountains for your wedding?
We love spending time in the mountains hiking, climbing, ski touring and cycling and love especially this part of the Norwegian mountains. We got engaged here and have spent countless holidays here, so it was no other place we wanted to get married. It was also great to get all out.
Wedding day theme:
Sage, white and green palette. Classical Modern meets rustique traditional Norwegian nature and mountains. We wanted clean colors that did not try to compete with the stunning nature and traditional Norwegian timber lodges, but rather colors that complemented the amazing surroundings.

How did you choose to personalize your wedding?
Mostly by the friends participating in the ceremony, singing, playing the violin, and reading the text in the church. Also by the flower decorations made by our friends.
What was your favorite part of the reception?
All the great speeches given by our loved ones, they were truly amazing, entertaining, short and to the point.
What are three things you’re super glad you did?
- Choosing a small church where the guests filled the entire church, rather than a big, empty church.
- Not fussing about the small stuff, but delegating everything to my mum and bridesmaids and just enjoying the day.
- Buying LED glowstick-bracelets for all our guests for the party – the roof was on fire with that investment!
Anything you wished you hadn’t worried about?
- Worrying whether people would have a good time.
- I would not take responsibility for helping the guests book rooms, they should do that themselves.
- Spent less time on wedding favours and extra small stuff.
What was the biggest challenge in planning your mountain wedding and how did you overcome it?
Table planning, and trying to seat everyone. The best choice we made was having people sitting close to other people they knew at the dinner, but not next to their partner. Everybody told us afterward that they had the best seating ever and the ambiance was amazing.

What is your best piece of advice to other mountain brides who are planning their weddings?
Focus on enjoying your day, making sure you have delegated every possible task to trusted friends and family. People love to help out at weddings and often consider it a sign of trust to be left with a task, believe me – they will outperform themselves with the smallest task
