Signature Drink of the Month | Lavender Lemonade

I saw a whole bunch of potted herbs at Trader Joe's the other day and craved a little indoor herb garden in my kitchen. I would love to see green again at this point. The snow is melting fast, but it takes a while to melt out a 25 foot base.

I'm kicking myself for not buying the lavender. There's nothing more summery than lemonade, and no lemonade more sophisticated and refreshing than lavender lemonade.

Lavender Lemonade

I found this easy-peasy recipe on Oprah. It's similar to the way I make my own homemade lemonade.

1 gal water
3 cups sugar
7 springs of lavender
2 c fresh lemon juice
1/2 c of fresh lime juice (to add some character)

Boil water and remove from heat. Add ingredients and stir until sugar is dissolved. Let cool to room temperature. Strain and chill.

Using Dried Lavender

I understand that mountain gals can;t always make it to a Traders Joe's or decent grocery sore that stocks fresh lemonade. So here are a few online resources for using and ordering dried lavender.

Serving Lavender Lemonade at your Wedding

Be sure to hunt down some fresh lavender springs for garnish if you are serving this drink at your wedding.
