Indian Head Mountain Engagement Session

Ariel and Christian spent their romantic engagement photo shoot popping champagne on the overlook of Indian Head Mountain. The two New York natives’ mutual love for this location at Lake Placid was what drew them to bring Mindy Hulett there for their photos. The evening sunset and the warm colors filled up every angle and we are o b s e s s e d.

How did you meet?

We met through close friends and decided to go on a double date with them. After dinner at a local restaurant, we decided to go bowling. We have been inseparable ever since!

What is your proposal story?

Christian and I vacation upstate each summer at his family lake house near Lake Placid. Each year, we try to tackle another hike. This year, his brother mentioned a beautiful hike along waterfalls! It took us 4 hours to hike up the mountain. It was a chilly day for the middle of June, but we were determined to make it to the summit. By the time we reached the summit, it was SNOWING! It’s tradition for us to take a picture at the top of the mountain. So when Christian offered to take a picture with me, I was not suspicious. He pleaded for me to take off my poncho that I had put on while it snowed. As Christian’s brother was taking our photo, he proposed to me on top of that mountain!

Tell us about the ring/band.

The ring is a three-stone design with an oval diamond center, offset by pear shape side diamonds with a rose gold band.

Tell us about your engagement shoot outfits and accessories.

My engagement shoot dress was a find off of Poshmark! I’ve been obsessed with jewel tones and knew it would look great in contrast to the foliage. The rest of the clothing and accessories were things I have owned for years. It helped me feel comfortable!

Why a mountain wedding? What’s your biggest piece of advice for other couples planning a mountain wedding?

We chose this engagement shoot because of the location. This is exactly where Christian proposed on that cold June day. When I asked Mindy if she would mind hiking a mountain for our photo shoot, she did not hesitate to say yes! It was a crazy adventure but a great one! One piece of advice for other couples-dry shampoo & a mirror! Also, enjoy the time with your special person and don’t forget to take in those amazing views!
