Graceful and Stylish Lake Tahoe Wedding captured by Eric Asistin

Stylish Lake Tahoe Wedding By Eric Asistin Via Mountainside Bride

Lacey, a model turned designer, truly elevated her and Chris’ Lake Tahoe wedding with fearless style and artful wedding details. Lacey’s gold wedding gown by Aidan Mattox and gold heels from Nine West are simply stunning. She and Chris  applied their artistic talents to nearly every detail, from the water color place cards to  custom, dip-dyed reception napkins to the guys boutonnieres. Lacey also designed and crafted her own custom hairpiece. Eric Asistin was on hand to capture every detail perfectly. Um, AH-mazing!

Lacey + Chris
Truckee, California
July 19, 2015

Wedding day weather: Sunny with just enough cloudy to have a beautiful sky.
Number of guests: 26
Your budget: 10,000
Biggest splurge: Professional Services
Biggest savings: Decor

Why did you choose the Mountains for your wedding?

We both agreed we wanted to be married in nature and wanted to house our families at the same location we had the wedding. We don’t get to spend a lot of time with our loved ones as we all live on opposite sides of the Country so having everyone together in a home like environment for 2 days was very important to us.
We looked everywhere for the right location, finally deciding on Truckee, as it was a location we love visiting in the Winter.

Wedding day theme:

Our “theme” for the wedding, was spending time with our families.

Where did you find your inspiration?

Artist intuition and Pinterest

How did you choose to personalize your wedding?

Lacey created almost all of the decor for the wedding, save the “LOVE” sign and glassware!

From dip dying the napkins and making the boutonnieres, hand making the lace table cloth for the dessert table, the wedding party’s bouquets, and of course, her and her sister’s headpieces designed under her label: “Straight-Laced”

The most memorable project for both of us was water coloring all of the name cards. We’re both artists so it was a fun co-project we made up as we went along. Chris has an amazing eye for abstract art, so Lacey followed his lead.

What was your favorite part of the reception?

The entire reception was heartfelt and full of laughter. The speeches our families and friends gave are memories we’ll carry with us for a lifetime.

What are three things you’re super glad you did?

  • Rented a property that housed our entire immediate families and included the ceremony and reception site. Spending time with our families was the most important part of our wedding. The North Tahoe Lodge accommodated that request.
  • Started planning the wedding almost a year in advance
  • Kept the wedding small and intimate.

What was the biggest challenge in planning your mountain wedding and how did you overcome it?

Finding a venue within our budget, that didn’t hike up the price when they heard the word “wedding”.
I can’t tell you how many properties we looked at that were initially within our budget until we mentioned the word “wedding”. Some properties tried to negotiate over a $10,000 increase in rental price. It was heartbreaking and a reality check. Thankfully we found the lodge and were able to house our families for 2 days plus have our ceremony and reception within our budget.

How did you find and choose your vendors?

Scouring the internet.

What is your best piece of advice to other mountain brides who are planning their weddings?

My best advice is to not give up on what you’re looking for and don’t let anyone talk you into wedding details that don’t feel like you as a couple.
