Elegant Pink and Ivory Lookout Mountain Wedding

Lace wedding gown and pearls

You’re going to love this Lookout Mountain Fairyland Club wedding! Jessica and Aaron’s wedding at the Fairyland Club, near Rock City.  It’s like a castle at the top of Lookout Mountain. It is made of stone, and the wedding reception hall has a rustic feel with exposed rafters and a stone fireplace. Jessica and Aaron were surrounded by the sweetest friends and family! Jessica is also a wedding photographer in Georgia, so wedding photos were a top priority for this couple. It’s no wonder why they chose JoPhoto!

Why a Mountain Wedding?

We love the mountains! My husband is a park ranger at South Cumberland State Park, and as we live in a gorgeous mountainous region, it was only fitting that we have our wedding somewhere that was beautiful to look at as well.

Where did you find your inspiration?

Lots of pinterest, but mainly I just kept in mind my theme- which was simple elegance. Focusing on that helped me to accomplish what we could do and avoid wasting time on projects that wouldn’t make any difference.

What were some personal details you incorporated?

The cake plate centerpieces included cake plates from different people in our lives. The one at our table was a wedding gift to my husband’s parents on their wedding day- my sweet mother-in-law makes his birthday cake every year and serves it on that very plate. :)

Your favorite moment of the day.

My moment with my husband immediately after the ceremony. It was just me and him in the whole world, and it was precious.

Three things you’re glad you did.

I am SO glad I had a wedding planner, that I minimized the time between the ceremony and the food at the reception (guests got to eat immediately) and that I cut a few off of my final numbers to the caterer- a lot of people who RSVP’d yes did not come.

Anything you wish you hadn’t done?

2 things-

  1. I wish I had not been so emotional! I cried for most of the day :)
  2. I so wish I had not let people throw things at me when we left- I HATED it so much! As soon as I walked out of the door some children poured our biodegradable confetti straight down my dress. If I ever help someone plan a wedding I will be recommending bubbles for sure.

What was the best piece of wedding advice you got?

To keep in mind that it feels like it only lasts 10 minutes. That’s it.

Anything you wish you hadn’t worried about?

The day-of I wish I had not worried so much about how I looked- of course my husband would think I am beautiful, so why did I nit-pick?

Anything You wish you had known about sooner rather than later?

That the wireless microphone would cut out during the ceremony. Perhaps wired mics are just safer.

How did you choose your vendors?

We had a very short engagement, so it all happened quickly. The venue was chosen because of the beautiful location and the reasonable rental fees- their availability is what determined our date. We chose our event planner based on recommendations- and Foxy Events was definitely worth it, they made it so much less stressful. Our florist was chosen based off of location and pricing. Grafe Studio did a wonderful job! Our stylist, Molly Dixon was chosen based on her availability, her previous styling and examples of her work, and lastly- our photographers were an easy choice. When I was looking at photos of my venue online, I came across JoPhoto‘s  work and fell in love. My number one piece of advice would be to hire photographers who deliver quality work… it is so worth it.

What is your very best advice to other mountain brides?

Enjoy your day… it goes by SO fast.
