DI(Not)Y–Pocket Squares

What to Do When You Have Precious Little DIY Skills

I was hell bent on giving the Hindsight Groom a nice pocket square as a wedding gift. I had seen one on Once Wed, and immediately fell in love with it. She had embroidered a snippet from the poem, "The Owl and the Pussycat." I love every aspect of this idea. It's handmade, sentimental, heartfelt, and personal. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no sewing or embroidery skills, and I had no time to practice (I saw the tutorial 2 weeks before that wedding and I was already crazy with DIY projects.) I did not give my groom a pocket square. He wore a boutonniere.

In hindsight, I should have simply turned to Etsy. But this idea only came to me after seeing this fantastically awesome embroidered wedding keepsake on The Inspired Bride. DING DING DING!

I realized, I don't have to DIY everything to create a lovely handmade wedding. That's what Etsy is for! I did a quick search on Etsy for "pocket square with embroidery," and lo and behold!

Of course embroidered and monogrammed pocket squares and handkerchiefs also make nice gifts for parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
