Boho Ojai Hills Wedding

Amy and Jeffery’s wedding held the perfect balance between the boho details of lace and velvet furniture and the West Coast desert-esque vibe. Their all-star vendor team created not only a magical event, but one that these two special people deserved after the highs and lows of planning their wedding during the pandemic.

The wedding took place on private gardens with White Sage Wedding & Events guiding the way. The beautiful arrangement of the reception layout was supplied by the wonderful Otis & Pearl and Found Rental Co. The Boundless Bar made its appearance and made a traditional element memorable for all. The bride’s dress from Laudae and the bridesmaids’ dresses from ASOS brought in the boho element even more with the floral lace and moody colors. The mixture of greens and burnt oranges fill these photos with a southwestern statement and we are here. for. it.

How did you meet?

Jeff and I met when we were 15 years old at a high school football game. We dated for a couple years in high school until Jeff went away to college at California State University of Chico. We reconnected in 2012 and have been together ever since.

What is your proposal story?

Jeff proposed to me in front of the fire on December 28, 2019 at his family cabin in Big Bear, CA. We have created many fond memories there over the years and it holds a very special place in our hearts.

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding (your vision, color, style, and location choices).

Jeff and I always knew that we wanted to have an intimate outdoor wedding with our closest family members. We have both always loved the outdoors, which drew us to focus on a neutral color palette. We originally planned a wedding for Ojai, CA, but then had to switch the location to Big Bear, CA due to COVID. About three days before our wedding in Big Bear, we had to switch locations again due to the fires in San Bernardino. Our amazing wedding planner helped us find a new location in Ojai, leading us to feel that it was meant to be there all along.

Tell us about your attire choices.

Like our personalities, Jeff and I chose clothing that we would feel relaxed and comfortable in, while still looking classic, yet modern.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

One of the things we hear most from our married friends/family members is that the day goes by so quickly and that the couple rarely gets to spend quality time with their guests. For us, this was the most important aspect of our big day. We wanted to make sure that everyone had the opportunity to spend time with one another and enjoy each others company. We felt that one of the best ways to accomplish this was through great food, so we definitely decided that this is where we wanted to splurge. We also chose to do family style which fit the vibe perfectly.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

Our favorite parts of the day were spending quality time with our guests, eating delicious food, and of course, marrying each other!

Tell us about your wedding flowers.

Maximum Bloomage made all of our floral dreams come true. Selena took our vision and made it come to life. She creates beautiful arrangements which are sophisticated yet edgy.

What did you do for favors?

For favors, we created a homemade garlic salt spice mix & placed them in cute little glass jars. These also doubled as our guests seating arrangements.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

Planning a wedding is stressful. Planning a wedding during a global pandemic may sound impossible, but it can be done. Don’t be too hard on yourself or on your partner. Be flexible and allow yourself and others grace. What is meant to be will be.

Why a mountain wedding? What’s your biggest piece of advice for other couples planning a mountain wedding?

For us, being in nature and in the mountains feels like home. It is a place we hold very dear to our hearts. We feel that this is the perfect foundation for a great beginning. Take time to enjoy the process, reflect and show gratitude.
