Amelie Gets Married–Vintage French Wedding Inspiration

Happy Bastille Day Amelie!!!

I know that this shoot has cropped up in a couple of places already, but I thought it would be appropriate to share it one more time for Bastille Day. Like many of you, Amelie was one of my favorite films in college. I would marathon play it during finals. The stunning beauty and cinematography helped relax me and make me happy.  Nonpareil Magazine first published this delightful Amelie-inspired concept shoot that was then picked up by Elizabeth Anne Designs and Love and Lavender.

What I like the most about this, or any wedding is, first and foremost, the attention to detail. The crusty french bread in vintage tins, the Eiffel Tower handbag, and the red wrought iron bench cum cake table. But I am also reminded that the thing restraint is key to creating an elegant and cohesive wedding. What you don't see are pinwheels, barn wood signs, or doilies everywhere. Now you know I love all of that stuff, but they just wouldn't belong here.

I say this because I remember being so overloaded by ideas when I was planning my own wedding. There were beautiful weddings and clever ideas everywhere on the Internet. In the end, I stuck with design elements that said something about my husband and I or the two families we were joining together. So go ahead, be inspired! But be true to yourself to. Enjoy!
