Wedding day weather:
Number of guests: 21 at the ceremony and around 50 total for the brunch reception that followed
Your budget: around $10,000
Biggest splurge: The venue. We spent most of our budget on the house we stayed in. We had all our immediate family and their kids stay at the house with us. A treat for all of us. Also the photographer in 2nd.
Biggest savings: I think I saved the most on my dress It was only $125. I had plenty of money left for some DIY stuff for the party.

Why did you choose the Mountains for your wedding?

We LOVE the mountains so it was a no brainer. We knew right away its where we wanted to get married.

Wedding day theme:

I’d say the theme was the mountains , forrest and the lake. We didn’t need a lot of decor in this setting. So rustic with a little bohemian vibes.

Where did you find your inspiration?

Nature and Pinterest.

How did you choose to personalize your wedding?

My mom passed away last year from cancer , I had a picture of her on my bouquet . Our ceremony was out in nature and emotional with our close family surrounding us. Our family took turns around the circle saying kind words to us. My dad started and it made me cry. It was such a perfect day.

What was your favorite part of the reception?

All the love that surrounded us from family and friends. Also the donuts and coffee were the best.

What are three things you’re super glad you did?

  1. I’m so glad we hired a photographer, we almost didn’t. Now we have amazing photos of our day to share with family forever.
  2. I’m glad I didn’t get expensive flowers, I just picked up some flowers from the grocery store.
  3. I am glad we did a brunch reception, it definitely saved us money and it was perfect for the kids.

Anything you wished you hadn’t worried about?

  • Our photo props, no one really used them and we spent a lot of time putting it together.
  • I would tell myself to relax more stress less. I worried a lot about the guests having a good time and It was all good.

What was the biggest challenge in planning your mountain wedding and how did you overcome it?

My biggest challenge was not having my mom with me she would of loved helping me find a dress and throwing a shower and seeing the day as it was. I just tried my best to be happy like she would want. She was with me on the day and through the planning in spirit.

How did you find and choose your vendors?

We stayed at this house in the mountains a few years back with friends – I remember thinking it was the perfect place for a wedding. I found our photographer randomly on Instagram while I was looking at nature pictures. Mighty-O is our favorite donut place.

What is your best piece of advice to other mountain brides who are planning their weddings?

Don’t stress too much about the details, relax and let the day unfold how it unfolds and enjoy the day. Its over fast-try to be mindful in the moment.
