Why a Mountain Wedding?

John and I are in love with the mountains in Utah, John and I are both avid skier/snowboarders and hikers, whenever we have free time, it’s up in the quiet mountains where we can just enjoy our time together.

Where did you find your inspiration?

Our inspiration was nature, the unbelievable views of Deer Valley, you just feel like you’re in God’s country. It’s incredibly surreal what the mountains can deliver in photos and just the serenity you feel.

What were some personal details you incorporated?

Our ONE personal detail that we had to have, was our English bulldog Gracie, she was our ring bearer and the love of our life. We also had my two awesome nephews walk her down the aisle.

Your favorite moment of the day.

Favorite moment was when my dad embraced me and told me how proud and happy he was before giving me away.

Three things you’re glad you did.

  • I’m so glad we kept it small and had the most important people in our lives share this moment with us.
  • Having Gracie be a part of the ceremony.
  • Choosing St. Regis Deer Valley and the incredible staff.

What was the best piece of wedding advice you got?

Hire a wedding planner, don’t stress about your day, and just go with the flow, relax and focus on what this day represents.

Anything you wish you hadn’t worried about?

We planned our wedding in ten days! I didn’t have time to worry about anything!

Anything You wish you had known about sooner rather than later?

I can’t think of anything that was a surprise or upsetting, I was relaxed the whole day, I had my sisters with me throughout the whole event and that kind of support really helped me the whole day.

How did you choose your vendors?

Catherine Johnson was our event coordinator with St. Regis, she had amazing referrals for all of our vendors and our vendors bent over backwards to make sure they could get everything they needed to do in only ten days!

What is your very best advice to other mountain brides?

Focus on the beauty of the mountains and everything nature has to offer, you don’t need fancy decorations and backdrops to have the perfect picture, everything about being in the mountains and with the love of your life really puts what’s important into perspective. It’s about expressing your love in front of family, friends, and God and there is no better way to express that than in nature that truly represents what an unbelievable creation of God. (I’m not even a religious person but you can’t deny what made these mountains)
