Alyssa and Brandon chose a delightfully snowy day in the Pisgah National Forest to commemorate their 1-year anniversary. Their October wedding was inside in an old Downtown Knoxville venue called The Foundry. They chose not to do a first look and their ceremony began later in the evening, so they didn’t get many outdoor portraits. They chose Max Patch because of the BEAUTIFUL fall colors. However, as sometimes happens in the mountains, winter came early, and the falling snow turned their autumn anniversary session into a winter wonderland! We can’t say we’re disappointed!
How did you meet?
Brandon and I went to school together from 8th grade on. However, we did not actually meet until about 6 months after we graduated high school. We met through a mutual friend, started hanging out casually, and the rest is history! He took me on our first date about a month after we met, and I really don’t remember there ever being any question after that. It’s always been him!!
What is your proposal story?
We had been dating for about 3 and a half years. I was in my junior year of nursing school, and we had both been seriously planning our future together for a while, so I was pushing a proposal pretty hard! (LOL) He had the diamonds out of my grandmother’s wedding ring reset for me and had actually planned to wait 3-4 more months before proposing, but he decided on a whim to propose on Easter Sunday. We always spend the afternoon at his Mamaw’s house, where his niece and nephew have their own little egg hunt in her backyard each year. So him, his brother an his SIL hid my ring in an egg with a note reading “Will you marry me?”, and his niece (who happens to be one of my favorite humans) told me she could not get one of her eggs open. I opened it for her, saw the note and RING, and realized Brandon was behind me on his knee. Of course, I said YES!!
Tell us about your attire choices
So I actually found my dress about 8 months before Brandon proposed. I just fell in love with it. It is all over lace, buttons all the way down the back/train, and a soft sweetheart neckline. It fit literally every criteria I wanted in a dress. I put it on and never wanted to take it off. Sometimes I still get it out and put it in just because! My dress was made complete with a pair of Vince Camuto wedges and a cathedral veil. Fun fact: the lace on my veil matches the lace on my dress. :) For Brandon, I really wanted him to stand out so he wore a full tux during the ceremony and his groomsmen wore a more casual look with suspenders and bow ties.
