Number 1 thing to think about: What can you bring into the space that’s affordable and easy to transport that will create that rustic feeling and let the traditional ballroom fade away

  • Small trees
  • birch bark
  • wooden bases
  • Lanterns

Treat the ball room like four walls and create your look within that. Set the tone. Ask if there are options for dim lighting and stringing lights and lanterns. Use unconventional woodland centerpieces, and sweet little mini pie favors.

Other tips:

  • Communicating your vision to traditional wedding vendors who are used to doing weddings “by the numbers.”
