DIY Farm Wedding in the North Georgia Mountains

Blue Ridge Mountain Wedding Sugarboo Farms | By Leah And Mark | Via MountainsideBride.com

Jade and Matt married at Sugarboo Farms, a small farm in the Blue Ridge mountains in North Ga. Inspired by the Roaring 20s Jade wore a gorgeous gold beaded wedding gown and hosted a rustic dinner party for 100 of their closest friends and family. Although Jade and Matt were on a tight budget, they kept their core priorities at heart and had a heartfelt ceremony and reception, surrounded by their big families and closest friends. Leah And Mark Photography was on hand to capture every warm moment and lovely detail.

Why did you choose the Mountains for your wedding?

We wanted our wedding to feel like a long weekend away with our family and closest friends.

Wedding day theme:

1920’s outdoor dinner party in the mountains

Where did you find your inspiration?

Blogs and Pinterest (of course!)

How did you choose to personalize your wedding?

There were little things we were able to incorporate to make our wedding feel like ‘us’ – creating our own ceremony by piecing together traditional and modern elements, our dogs’ cameos on our wedding invitations, and inviting everyone onto the dance floor for the second half of our first dance. There were also things that our loved ones did that made the day feel so personal and special – a hilarious surprise performance from my bridesmaid and man of honor, and a bracelet replicating Matt’s mom’s handwriting given to me by his sisters.

What was your favorite part of the reception?

Sitting next to my new husband at dinner and looking out at all of our nearest and dearest and just soaking in all the love. I will never forget that feeling.

What are three things you’re super glad you did?

  1. The first look – our photographer Mark was so right. You barely get to see each other after the ceremony so I’m so glad we were able to steal a few quiet moments together
  2. Accepting people’s help instead of trying to do everything by myself. We had a tight budget so I tried to DIY where possible, however I have amazing friends and family who made sure I was able to relax, enjoy and be present when it came to my actual wedding day.
  3. Not eloping or having a smaller, immediate family only wedding. We had budget restraints, but we both come from big families. Being able to say our vows to each other in front of the people we hold dearest was so worth it.

How did you find and choose your vendors?

I found the venue through a google search which led me to a blog post on Leah & Mark’s website. Everything just fell into place after that, I obviously went with Leah & Mark for photography and ended up using venue’s recommended vendors since Blairsville is such a small town and we wanted to support the local community.

What is your best piece of advice to other mountain brides who are planning their weddings?

Try not to lose sight of why you are having a wedding in the first place. You spend so much time planning and stressing over every last detail that it’s so easy to get caught up in what I call the ‘stuff’ of a wedding instead of the ceremony and making those vows to each other.
